Iran Launches Strikes on U.S. Air Base in Bahrain

(MENAFN) Iran unleashed a "large-scale drone and missile attack" against a U.S. air base in Bahrain at dawn Tuesday, dramatically widening the theater of conflict as hostilities between Tehran and Washington continued to intensify.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) executed "a large-scale drone and missile attack at dawn on the U.S. air base in the Sheikh Isa area of Bahrain," Iranian media reported in a Telegram post.

In a separate and significant development, the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh confirmed it had sustained a direct attack, announcing it would remain shuttered throughout Tuesday — adding Saudi Arabia to a rapidly growing list of nations caught in the conflict's expanding crossfire.

The escalation prompted swift action from Washington. The U.S. State Department announced Tuesday it had ordered the mandatory departure of all non-emergency U.S. government personnel and their family members from Bahrain, Iraq, and Jordan — a sweeping evacuation order underscoring the severity of the threat environment across the region.

The strikes mark a significant intensification of Iranian offensive operations, extending well beyond Israel to now directly target American diplomatic and military infrastructure across multiple sovereign nations. Independent verification of damage and casualties from the attacks has yet to be established.
